How to check for senate list
It is important to tell you that before you proceed to registration, you have to check if your name is recognised in NYSC portal.
What is senate list: This is the list of senate approved graduates ready for NYSC mobilization. This list is sent to NYSC and also uploaded to NYSC portal.
The following procedure is how to check for senate list.
- Login to the NYSC portal through www.portal.nysc.org.ng
- Click on the Senate list link
- Select your institutions. You’ll see a list of approved institutions for NYSC. If you can find your school, cliçk it. You can as well, search for your school using the first two words. For example, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Once you type federal uni, you’ll see lists of Federal Universities. Click on your own institution.
- Select matriculation number, this is where the majority of people get it all wrong. You’ve to type your matriculation number without special characters, like space, comma, slash, etc.
- Type in your surname in the space box provided. Make sure you type it correctly.
- Type in your date of birth. You’ve to be careful while filling this section. Though your school has submitted your date of birth to NYSC. Ensure everything is correct, if not, use the correct date of birth form or go to your institution to rectify this. NYSC now put the date of birth in the certificate.
- Click on the “search”. Your information should pop up. You can then continue with your registration.
- If you get ‘no record found’. This might be an error from your institution or you were excluded while uploading the list. Go to your institution, student affairs department to file your complaints.

Type the portal URL to your browser at www.portal.nysc.gov.ng
Before you proceed for registration you’ve to check your senate list first.
- Click on fresh registration if you’ve not registered before.
- Input your email address. Input the valid email address and ensure you’ve assessed to the email address provided.
- Input your password. Please use a combination of Alphanumeric letters and symbols. Don’t forget to save it in the cloud as well.
- Click on register.
- Fill the form.
- Select your preferred deployment state
- Upload every necessary document include your passport photograph
- Ensure your passport photographs are recent, decentralized with white background. This passport photographs will be included in your NYSC certificate, so ensure you look decent.
- Select your crested NYSC vest, though this will not be followed.
- Ensure the thumbprint machine capture all your fingers. You might need to visit a local cyber café at this point to complete your registration.
- Ensure you scrutinized your input before the final submission.

How to pay and print For your Green Card
You will need to pay a sum three thousands (3000) naira to be able to print your green card.
This can be done in two ways.
- Through Bank that accept remita payment. You can always walk up to any commercial bank for your payment. After printing your payment slip. This will only cost you additional bank charges.
- Through your debit card. You can just make direct payment through your debit card.

They are then placed on a place of primary assignment known as (PPA).
