Scholarship Details
The Leventis Foundation Agricultural Training Programme is an initiative developed to train the Nigerian youths and farmers; in modern practices and sustainable agricultural procedures, through the rational use of natural resources.
The Leventis Foundation has been in existence since 1987 and currently spans across five Institutions in the federation.
The program encompasses agricultural training, workshops, and seminars for youths and farmers. The program is partly funded by the Leventis group of companies and also by the Federal Government.
Locations for the program are resituated in the following agro-economical states: The Federal Capital Territory- Abuja, Osun, Kaduna, Kano, and the Gombe States.
The Management of this prestigious or organizationally out to all young people (male and female) who have a desire to build a profitable career in farming and the business of agriculture.
A Free One-year training exposure of the participants to several areas of agriculture and other farm businesses.
The motive of the training is to create a generation of committed Nigerian farmers, who will act as catalysts for agricultural revolution in their communities, and Nigeria as a whole.
In a related development, the Leventis Foundation (Nigeria) presents a variety of consultancy services and objective courses in detailed aspects of agriculture.
This includes:
- Poultry production
- Vegetable production
- Bee-keeping
- Honey production
- Fish farming
- Mushroom production
- Value chain development
- Feed formulation
- Greenhouse farming and Hydroponics
- Urban farming
- Climate-smart agriculture among others
Successful candidates are awarded the opportunity to partake freely in this program. Added to this would be funding for their tuition, boarding, and feeding expenses.
Scholarship Requirements:
All interested candidates of the program must have reached the outlined requirements, before proceeding with the application:
- Be physically fit
- Be able to read and write
- Must have completed a minimum of a secondary school education
- Must be within an age range of 18 and 40
- Must pass both the written and oral tests before the final selection.
- Must demonstrate an interest in agriculture.
- A background in farming practice keeps you at an advantage.
