Nigeria Education: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

Nigeria education: here we are, who are we yesterday? and what’s going to become of us tomorrow?

50 years later, here we are. Have we finally been able to build a castle? Do we still live together in unison? Do we still go out holding hands to win a trophy? Have we guided our rivers so either of it dries up? Have we planted more trees and protected the forest? Have we religiously refined the black gold and save for the future? Do we still genuinely care and love one another? Is the soil on our land still fertile? Do we still care to feed, protect, love, and fight for a common goal? So far, have we had a good drive of the nation after we took over from the tyrant?

Nigeria Education Yesterday

Before independence, we had hoped for a better and succinct relationship between and with ourselves. Each man getting a share of the nation’s cake, resources and revenue all looked promising and assured. We promised to be our brother’s keeper; we vouched to be there for one another; we pledge to wipe one another tears; help one another to escape the wrath of oppressors; caring for one another and collectively worrying about our fears; aggregate our strength to gain momentum, and forceful enough for the world to reckon with and proved our oneness as a nation.

We promised to stay together regardless of the situation. All the way, we declared our love and responsibilities towards one another and we fought at wars as one true Nigerians for a common cause and interest.

We heard the tale of how our great forefathers fought and won the title of the ”Giant of Africa” with their blood, sweat and tears. With the true definition of sorority and agility, we ran over and across River Niger and River Benue, drank out of the water when we were thirsty.

Through the fertile land in the West, we shielded and protected ourselves at war, while we ate the fruits of the trees, prey on animals for food, all channelled towards our survival. Together, we earn solidarity!

Across the North blessed with drylands, we acclaimed for a better country. We ran through its barest vegetated land with reasons to love and cherish one another while fighting against our dictators; day and night, the desert was our abode and it accommodated us for our paths had long been intertwined.

Through the South, we learnt to shoot our catapult ark, used the leaves of plants as our shield and we could recall how we fed ourselves and shared meals to enhance our survival. Overall, we could tell the tale about how the South, West, East and North all connived against the tyrants. All of these once again proved our unison and fight for survival.

Breathlessly, we ran, fought and won our right over the black gold. We made it through and claimed what was truly ours. Our indigene, our right, our tradition, our future, our being, our nation! We earned all of it and took over the wheel from the strangers governing our fatherland. We were confident to write a better story, re-write history, and create for ourselves a paradise, where we could all dwell forever. Our happily ever after story!

Nigeria Education Today

Many years post-independence, here we are trying hard to figure out what went wrong. How did we lose our fraternity? When did segmentation found its way into our lives? Hatred, selfishness, anguish, dishonest, all of these, just how did we get to live with them?

Amidst of these suffering to subsist in my fatherland, we still have to put up with another pandemic and virus; our lives cannot be any ill-favoured than this. No light, no food, no peace of mind, and every day, is another day to thrive for survival.

Nigeria Tomorrow

Am I positive there is room for change? Mayhap, there’s. Can Nigeria get any better if all we go back to the good old days, re-elect our representatives (set of people who genuinely care, feel connected and concern for the country, the subjects, feels responsible for growth and development the nation), and consider ourselves as one entity? Yes, because I believe in Second Chance.
