The German Government offers the Wascal Scholarship to eligible African countries in partnership with the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL).
The Wascal Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity to study in West African universities and Germany. it covers the full university fees, monthly stipends, accommodation, and the costs of flights to and from the countries mentioned above.

The West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), a West African international Climate Change Institution has launched a new scholarship scheme for students from all ECOWAS states who want to pursue International Master’s Degrees.
Atlantic Technical University is launching its fifth Master’s Research Programme on Climate Change & Marine Sciences for the 2024-2025 academic year, and scholarship possibilities for at least 12 of 24 selected students.
The Master’s Research Programme in Informatics for Climate Change (MRP-ICC) is implemented at the Université Joseph KI-ZERBO (Burkina Faso). It is aimed at training a critical mass of experts with adequate scientific computation and climate data management skills in West Africa.
Requirements for German Government Wascal Scholarship 2024
To be considered for the German Government Wascal Scholarship 2024, you must:
Be a citizen of a WASCAL member country (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea Conakry, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, The Gambia or Togo);
Other ECOWAS member countries may be admitted as self-funded students on an availability basis.
Hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields or any other related fields: Biological Sciences, Oceanography, Fishing or Livestock Engineering, Geography, Sciences of the Atmosphere.
Candidates applying for Master Research Programme in Informatics for Climate Change must have a minimum of BSc in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Health sciences, Meteorology and Climate science, Geography, Biological sciences, Geoscience, Environmental Sciences, Economics, Agriculture, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronic Engineering.
Have at least an intermediate level in English language.

Curriculum vitae
WASSCE or SSCE Certificate (Anglophone Countries)
Two letters of recommendation from professors or researchers (grade associate professor or senior researcher at least).
A copy of identity document
A copy of Passport Photo Page
A letter of motivation (max. 2 pages).
A copy of university degree certificate
A certificate copy of proficiency in English or, in alternative, a statement indicating and justifying your self-assessment in the context of English proficiency.
Proof of professional experience in relevant area for the course, IF applicable.
A written commitment to pay a registration fee of 30 Euro if admitted.
